I have a huge passion for making food look good. I love the artistic process of capturing and enhancing the natural beauty of food to engage and entice the viewer.
HOW MY FOOD JOURNEY HAS BROUGHT ME TO BECOME A FOOD PHOTOGRAPHER
Originally, I established a custom cake business ( Devoted To Bakes) in 2010 and then discovered my passion for teaching the craft of baking. To expand the original business, I qualified as a professional artisan baker and developed an online learning platform with pre recorded high quality video content.
Being a sole trader, I have developed a range of essential skills, having planned, styled and edited photographic content for my website and social media marketing.
Food Styling & Photography
I have always loved designing and making dishes, bakes and cakes, but I realise that I am my element creating images of food. It was a natural progression for me to harness all of my skills and focus on the craft of food photography. My experience working with food gives me that special edge as a photographer. I know and understand the relationship producers and creators have with what they do, and how important it is to celebrate the food and tell its story.
Collaborations
Over the years, I have collaborated with a number of festivals and food events offering master classes at various events and festivals such as: Taste Of Dublin (Guest workshop facilitator); Kaleidoscope (Theatre of Food, Sally & John McKenna); Groove festival and the Beatyard festival & The Taste of Wicklow.
As a cake designer, I was involved in global collaborations including: ‘The Sugar Skull Bakers’ and ‘United Nations of Sugar Artists’.
Awards
Silver medalist – Irish Sugarcraft Show, Citywest, Dublin – ‘Fred’ our Turtle carved from cake.
Gold medalist – Northern Ireland Sugar Expo, Belfast, N. Ireland. – ‘Flo’ a beautiful woodland nymph sculpted from modelling chocolate.
